Newcastle United have announced that defender Lewis Hall has signed a new long-term contract keeping him at St James' Park until 2031. The 22-year-old England international, a boyhood supporter who joined from Chelsea in 2023, has made over 100 appearances for the club and is viewed as a key part of their plans. Sporting director Ross Wilson described the extension as a top priority, while head coach Matthias Jaissle praised Hall's mentality and importance to the squad. The move comes after reported summer interest from Manchester United, which Newcastle rebuffed. Hall called it a proud moment and expressed delight at committing his future to the Magpies. The US Justice Department has reportedly opened a criminal investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers over allegations of salary-cap circumvention linked to Kawhi Leonard’s endorsement deals. Source The probe, said to be in its earliest stages and led by the US attorney’s office in Brooklyn, follows the NBA’s recent penalties against the franchise, including a $30 million fine and the loss of five first-round draft picks. George Russell topped the opening practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix at the new Madring circuit in Madrid, setting a 1m34.077s lap to lead a Mercedes one-two. Team-mate Kimi Antonelli finished second, 0.286s adrift. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were third and fourth respectively in the early running at the fresh venue. Rumours are always labelled as such, hedged in the text ("reportedly", "according to reports"), and tied to at least one cited source. We don't publish anonymous-only transfer whispers.
We don't quietly delete posts. If a story moves on, a newer post can supersede the old one; the original stays readable by link. Dedicated Retracted posts are part of the design and roll out as the retraction flow ships.
If nothing clears our bar in the last hour, the slot stays empty. We'd rather leave a gap than fill it with filler.
