Why we built this
Sports has more content than ever and less you can trust. Anonymous "scoops". Recycled rumours. AI-generated articles with no sources. Headlines designed to get a tap, not to tell you anything true.
We're long-time fans. We were spending more time second-guessing what we read than enjoying the sport. So we set out to build the app we wanted to use ourselves: fewer posts, better posts, every fact with a source you can check when we have one — and when we cannot fully verify a link, we label it — plus AI tools built to cite sources where we can and refuse clearly when they cannot answer reliably.
Who it's for
Hangout FC is for fans who want the real story. People who follow a club, a player, a sport closely enough that they care whether something is fact, reported or rumour. People who want to ask questions and get answers backed by sources where we can show them — not confident guesses dressed up as fact.
Membership is paid by design — Terrace for reading, Press Pass for AI creation — so we're not funded by ads or selling your attention. Paying lets us invest in the slower, more careful version of sports journalism: less clickbait, fewer anonymous "sources said" stories, and AI tools built to show sources where we can and refuse clearly when they cannot help. We work hard to reduce errors and hallucinations, but no system is perfect. Please verify important facts yourself before you act on them.
The rules we play by
We try to show our working. Pulse posts are labelled Official, Reported or Rumour. Pulse, Live Wire, Press Box and Dossiers are source-first when we have them; Reports trace claims to our data desk; The Booth cites the open web when it uses it — so you can decide what you trust.
When we don't know something, we say so. When The Booth or another AI tool can't help, you'll see a clear refusal — not a silent empty reply. AI outputs can still be incomplete or wrong; check important facts before you publish or act on them. We don't quietly delete Pulse posts when a story moves on — older posts stay readable by link. Signals keeps a timeline of your monitoring drops rather than rewriting history in place.
